The Hurricane springs to life with sudden bursts of compressed air, as the ride arms propel thrill-seekers high into the sky in a series of wave type motions. A community carnival or major show is not complete without the familiar scene of the Hurricane seats sweeping over the heads of the crowds below, as riders scream in delight and excitement.

Specifications

  • Suitability: This is a high-speed circular-motion ride with strong rotational forces, suitable for children/adults aged 10 years and over.
  • Supervision: The Hurricane is fully supervised at all times by at least one staff member who has been trained in all aspects of the ride's operations. The ride attendant's duties include ensuring all riders meet the Height Requirement, hold a ticket or Ride Pass (if applicable), and are properly seated with restraints in place.
  • Height Requirement: All riders must be at least 130cm in height to ride alone. Riders who are 120-130cm in height may ride when accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or over. This height requirement has been set by the manufacturer, and is in place for the safety of all riders. There are no exceptions.
  • Area Required: 20m in diameter - plus an area at the front of the ride for queues.
  • Capacity: 24 Riders.
  • Throughput: Approximately 200 riders per hour.
  • Power: 32 amp three phase power required and supplied by the operator.
  • Transport: The Hurricane is transported on a semi-trailer weighing approximately 20 tonne.
  • Financials: The Hurricane may be hired on an hourly basis or Share of Ticket Sales (certain conditions apply).
  • Insurance: Fully covered by $20 million Public Liability Insurance, and Third-Party Property Insurance while in transit.
  • Plant Registration: Registered nationally with Workplace Health and Safety/Workcover.
  • Safety Inspections: Annually inspected by a Certified Engineer, and inspected on a daily basis by the ride supervisor prior to the commencement of operations.
  • Log Book Documentation: The ride's Log Book can be made available for inspection prior to the commencement of the ride's operation. Certain certificates can be emailed to the hirer prior to the booking. These documents include copies of the Public Liability Insurance certificate, Risk Assessment, Engineer's Inspection Certificate, and Plant Registration.

Rider Safety

Safety is our #1 concern. Brisbane Amusement Ride Hire is committed to providing a safe, fun-filled environment for all patrons - and we strictly adhere to all state and manufacturer regulations. All Ride Rules are in place for safety's sake, so please follow them to ensure a safe, enjoyable experience on the attraction.

  • Height Requirement: All riders must be at least 130cm in height to ride the Hurricane alone. Riders who are 120-130cm in height may ride when accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or over. A sign is posted at the entrance to the attraction. The height requirement will be strictly enforced.
  • Watch the Ride: Watch the ride before riding to ensure this type of attraction is suitable for you and/or your children.
  • Loose Articles: Leave all loose articles such as bags and phones with friends or the ride operator.
  • Keep all Body Parts within the Ride: Hang on to the Safety Bar at all times while the Hurricane is in motion, and keep hands, arms, legs, long hair, etc. within the ride.
  • Remain Seated: Remain seated at all times.
  • No Selfies!: Do not attempt to take photos during the ride. Mobile Phones would present a danger to other riders and spectators if they dislodge and become airborne.
  • Use the Safety Equipment provided: Do not attempt to unfasten the lap bar until the ride operator tells you to. If the Lap Bar is not properly fastened before the ride begins, ask the operator to come back and secure it for you.
  • Follow the Ride Operator's Instructions: Follow the Ride Operator's Instructions at all times. Wait until the operator instructs you to exit, before leaving the ride.
  • Report Hazards: If you see a condition that is not safe, report this to the ride operator.
  • You Should be Fit to Ride: Many rides create forces and speeds that may be physically challenging to some riders and may cause injury to those with pre-existing conditions. Riders must be in good health to ride.
